Tokyo Electron selects Crosser to enable a next-generation predictive maintenance system.
Crosser is proud to announce its role in a recent project aimed at improving the remote support capabilities for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. In collaboration with Tokyo Electron (TEL) and Nippon Steel Solutions (NSSOL), Crosser's edge solutions have played a key role in enabling a next-generation predictive maintenance system.
Project Overview
Tokyo Electron, one of the top 10 companies on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, with over 93,000 units deployed worldwide, sought to enhance its TELeMetrics™ service. This remote monitoring and maintenance system ensures real-time equipment oversight, reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency. However, customer concerns about security and data privacy have limited the broader adoption of cloud-connected systems.
To address these challenges, NSSOL worked with Tokyo Electron to design an edge-based predictive maintenance platform, leveraging Crosser’s edge processing solutions. The system processes data locally, ensuring sensitive information remains secure while enabling accurate equipment failure predictions and real-time monitoring.
Key Benefits
The new platform brings multiple advantages, including:
- Transitioning from Time-Based Maintenance (TBM) to Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), optimizing maintenance schedules and reducing unnecessary service interruptions.
- Improved operational efficiency through centralized data management.
- Enhanced customer confidence by securing sensitive equipment data while maintaining robust analytical capabilities.
The Role of Crosser’s Edge Solutions
Crosser’s solutions provided the backbone for this innovative system by:
- Enabling real-time data analysis and workflow automation at the edge.
- Supporting IT-OT integration through low-code development capabilities.
- Offering enterprise-grade features for managing high-volume IoT data across hybrid environments.
“Crosser is honored to have been selected as a key component in Tokyo Electron architecture, providing the required Edge analytics capabilities while adhering to the strict security requirements set by Tokyo Electron and its customers,” said Andrea Magnago, Director International Sales & Partners at Crosser.
This collaboration highlights the transformative potential of edge technologies in addressing complex challenges in industrial operations while ensuring security and scalability.
