A key challenge in hybrid cloud/edge situations is to efficiently get access to real and real-time data that resides on-premise behind firewalls.
Unlike most other solutions, the Crosser platform has always allowed for an interactive session between the cloud-based Crosser Control Center and the edge-deployed Crosser Node which has simplified the development, live testing and monitoring of use cases.
With the last release of the Control Center and the Crosser Node we have implemented a new architecture for interactivity that lays the foundation for a number of key enhancements that ultimately will lead to even faster development of Flows, a lower bar for building Flows and faster troubleshooting.
Introducing the Interactive Wizard for Data Selection and Mapping
First out to leverage the new architecture is a new interactive way of configuring connectors. The Interactive Wizard for Data Selection and Mapping lets users configure connectors in a more intuitive way by interacting with the source or destination systems.
The wizard will dynamically interact with 3rd party systems and guide users through the module configuration which allows users to select and map data with a few clicks. This dramatically lowers the complexity and time needed to design Flows and boosts productivity while reducing the skill levels needed to build integrations and automations.
The Interactive Wizard is available for everyone as a preview and is currently implemented on the following modules but will be gradually rolled out across the connector library:
- Microsoft SQL
- PostgreSQL
- Microsoft Teams
Live cloud-to-edge interactivity
More is coming…
The new architecture will also allow for more future enhancements, such as:
- Live Logs. Getting more detailed logs from Crosser Nodes in an interactive way for debug & troubleshooting.
- Setting Suggestions. Dynamic usage of message data from a previous module to suggest settings in configuring a module.
- Tag & Topic Browsing. Smooth and dynamic tag browsing from OPC UA servers or topic browsing from MQTT brokers.
One of the core missions of Crosser has always been to Fight Complexity with Simplicity and this major enhancement in interactivity between the Crosser Node and the Control Center will dramatically lower the effort required to build, implement and monitor deployments in a hybrid world.
