New features in the AVEVA Historian Reader Module

We recently updated the AVEVA Historian Reader Module (version 1.1) with some exciting features:

  • Tags can now be defined through resource files. This makes it a lot easier to request a large number of tags from the Historian.
  • When using resource files you can also add custom metadata with each tag, to help with processing of the tag data in the Flow.
  • Support for different retrieval modes, as supported by the Historian. For example, you can use ‘Delta’ mode to only receive updates at a specified minimum time or value delta.
  • Support for custom filters.
  • Option to include ‘vValue’ data, in cases where there is non-numerical data associated with a tag.
  • Option to use either local time or UTC.

Check out the module documentation for more information and examples.

"Hidden Lifecycle (employee) cost can account for 5-10 times the purchase price of software. Our goal is to offer a solution that automates and removes most of the tasks that is costly over the lifecycle.

My career started in the academic world where I got a PhD in physics by researching large scale data acquisition systems for physics experiments, such as the LHC at CERN. After leaving academia I have been working in several tech startups in different management positions over the last 20 years.

In most of these positions I have stood with one foot in the R&D team and another in the product/business teams. My passion is learning new technologies, use it to develop innovative products and explain the solutions to end users, technical or non-technical."
